Increasing life in Terradets 2025-2026

The Terradets microreserve, covering 21,318 m², stretches beside the Terradets reservoir, right in front of Hotel Terradets and along the greenway that leads to Tremp. It is one of the most valuable wetlands of the central Pre-Pyrenees, where water, light, and silence create a mosaic of life.

Walking through this space means stepping into a landscape of riverside forests, reeds, and waterbirds resting here, far from noise. It is a place to pause, sit on a wooden bench, listen to the wind whispering through the poplars, watch a otter at sunset or a grey heron in flight, and discover how nature also takes care of us: it calms us, inspires us, invites us to think and to share conversations.

Thanks to its designation as a microreserve, recent years have seen various actions aimed at improving the ecological health of the area, stopping the loss of biodiversity, and turning it into a place of connection between people and nature.

Goals of the 2025–2026 Cause

This year we want to take another step forward: to create a small natural pond that provides refuge for amphibians and strengthens the presence of the otter in the area.
But not only that — we also want it to become a small meeting point, a space where walkers, families, and hotel visitors can pause, breathe, and share the pleasure of watching water filled with life.

What will we do?

1. Construction of the amphibian pond
• Designed to naturally retain water all year round.
• Located in a strategic point near the reservoir to connect habitats.

2. Naturalisation of the area
• Creating small shelters, shaded areas, and different water depths.
• A living space with frogs, newts, dragonflies… and silence.

3. Education, contemplation, and essence
• Installation of an informative sign explaining the ecological value of the area, the key role of its species, and how a natural pond works.
• A space created not only to learn, but also to feel: to sit, observe, and let nature speak.
